Aspen Ridge Homes and Habitat for Humanity join forces

When it came time for Aspen Ridge Homes to move its sales office into their beautiful new Timson model home at Waterdown Meadows, the company enlisted the local Habitat for Humanity organization to help. Habitat took on the job of removing the kitchen, trim and other detailing from the original office, which was subsequently torn down to make way for community development. The new model provides a stunning showcase for Aspen Ridge’s beautiful designs and high level of features.
BILD hosts mayoral candidates

The Building Industry and Land Development Association will play host to the Toronto mayoral candidates on Monday, September 13. Candidates Rob Ford, Joe Pantalone, Rocco Rossi, George Smitherman and Sarah Thomson will discuss their views and policies related to the building and development industry in Toronto at On the Park beginning at 8:30 a.m.

New condo craze spreads northward

In what may be the first signal of an emerging trend, 46 per cent of high-rise unit sales in July were recorded in the 905 regions of the Greater Toronto Area.
“Toronto has consistently commanded an 80 per cent share of all high-rise sales while 80 per cent of low-rise sales have been in the suburbs. However, that balance is expected to shift as municipalities start to conform to the Greater Golden Horseshoe Growth Plan,” said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis.

Finalists were judged from entries from across the province encompassing 33 categories of building, design, sales and marketing. Although financial security continues to top the list of home ownership benefits, the comforts of home are increasingly important to Canadian women. According to the third annual TD Canada Trust Women and Home Ownership Poll, which surveyed women who have purchased a home independently, key features of home ownership, including being able to renovate to suit individual tastes and having a garden, are now more essential to Canadian women than they were in 2008.
